Description
Set at the top of Funchal hill, this spectacular 5 Bedroom Portuguese-style luxury villa offers a sea view, spectacular outdoor terraces, a saltwater swimming pool, high-end appliances, luxury linens and towels and a stunning, private garden you will never want to leave!
Just 1km from downtown historic Lagos, you are in the perfect location for exploring the area’s best beaches (Burgau, Selema, Luz, and Meia Praia) as well as enjoying the great dining options and shopping.
The space
The house is two levels. Upstairs, you have two large bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom and a large wardrobe and walk-in closet as well as a private terrace, one with sea views and one overlooking the garden.
You also have a play room upstairs with a 55 inch HD television with cable, amazon and netflix.
Downstairs you have the kitchen, dining room and living room with another large 55 inch HD television.
The kitchen is fully equipped and I am a chef so you will find everything you could ever want for cooking and baking, including a food processor, mixers, a blender. gas stove, oven, and all the accessories.
There are three more bedrooms downstairs, one just off the kitchen area with its own ensuite bathroom, wardrobe and private terrace. Two more are located on the right side of the house. One is a small children's room with 2 twin beds and a large wardrobe (the bathroom is right next door but not ensuite). The second has a large king bed, a private terrace, an ensuite bathroom and a private terrace.
The beds in the house are the highest quality mattresses and I buy only top of the line linens and towels (Gato Preto, John Lewis, Linens Etc, Christian Dior)
Upstairs beds and sizes:
master bedroom: king (180 x 200)
children's bedroom: 2 twins (90 x 200), 1 double (140 x 200)
Downstairs beds and sizes:
front bedroom: queen: 160 x 200
children's bedroom: 2 twins (90 x 200)
back master bedroom: king (180 x 200)
There are two BBQ areas, one uses a gas BBQ and the other is an outdoor BBQ area near the pool that you can use charcoal for or small wood pieces. There is also an outdoor sink and small refrigerator for drinks in this area, which makes eating by the pool easy.
We have a large outdoor dining table that seats 10 and another that seats 6 as well as a sofa area that seats 10. By the pool you have sun chairs for 10 and a trampoline for the kids to expend energy.
Each room has its own AC unit, including the kitchen and downstairs living room as well as the upstairs play room. However, we find that with the windows open you hardly ever even need to use the AC in this area. It's rarely ever too hot inside the house as it is built with stone and designed to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We also put an extra layer of insulation on the outside of the house so the temperature is usually very temperate.
You are across the highway from Boavista Golf Course and Praia da Luz beach. Many of the area's great beaches are just a 5 to 10 minute drive. Supermarkets are also very close and the city center of Lagos is 5 minutes away too. The charming town of Burgau is a 15-minute drive and you can reach the west coast and Aljezur in about 30 minutes. Some of the best surfing beaches are very close too.
